De Profundis, Tecum. Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

De Profundis, Tecum.

De profundis, tecum.
Morose and sad-eyed
Furrowed brain
This dusk

The leaves
Fall from
The trees sere
De profundis, tecum
Hodie.
Today's a day.

De profundis, tecum
I am the One
Who clears the bastions
From the left-over
Leaves that fell from
The impending trees.

De profundis, vobiscum.
I am the One
Who blows the dim
Lights out
Under the bastion eaves
The way
The side of the garden.
Dominus, tecum
Dominus, vobiscum.

I be the One
I be the One
Who contemplates the Stars
The burning Stars
To-night
Yesterday
Tomorrow
I am the One.

I am the One
Who talks to stars
And
To whom the mild moon
Talks
Shivering in the night-dews
Falling
I hear future, past and
Present, all
I talk of All,
I hear All,
The whispers and the groans
I hear
I hear All
And I be the One that hears.

I be the One
Who mourns each suicide
So many
So many
Over this ledge of Earth
I be the One.
I be the One.
Who read the furrows
Of the brain immense
Of the immense heavens.
I be the One
Dominus tecum.
Dominus vobiscum.
