Dear Best Friend Poem by Cassandra Hooper

Dear Best Friend

Dear best friend
How have you been
Are you having fun
Up in heaven?
Are the angels nice?
Are you doing alright?
I swear I heard your voice
Sometime last night
I start to think
It’s almost been a year
And this single thought
Is what starts the tears
I miss your smile
All the things you used to say
Hanging out in history had always been
The highlight of my day
But then the day came along
When I didn’t see your face
Sitting behind your empty chair
I felt so out of place
And here we are
Just a month away
From when we lost you
From that day in May
It’s been hard
To get through this whole year
You were the one I always talked to
The one who killed my fear
But things are getting better I guess
You’re still always on my mind
Even though you’re not coming back
I’ll never leave you behind
