Dear Dad Poem by Sharon Andrews

Dear Dad

Rating: 5.0

What am i supposed to think?
When you turned your back on me
like a skunk with a stink
You crushed all my hopes, my dreams,
my childhood sunbeams
Protection security all the things a dad should provide
without question hesitation
You..You.. chose to hide
you got on the fast train and left the station
Now im left standing alone
cut and slashed to the bone

What am i supposed to think?

No contact through the years
what should i do with my bucket of tears
Do you sleep at night
Do you think of your lost daughters plight
No i don't think you're even aware of the damage
you've done
So i shall move on and on
a new happier life
The one i deserve and need
I have sown my own brand new seed
As it grows i will heal
Break the chains that tore my heels
dragged me down with a constant frown
So thanks Dad i've learnt
Lifes what you make it so as to avoid the hurt
MY beautiful new family i will protect and cherish
And all love for you dad will perish.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I FEEL YOUR PAIN. AS I SIT HEAR IN THE RAIN. TELLING YOU THE MAIN. THING TO BE AWARE OF. IS YOUR LOVE FOR THOSE WHO EMBRACE YOU. AS YOU EMBRACE THEM. I LOVE YOU SHARON. I ALLWAYS WILL. THAT YOU CAN DEPEND ON. AS SURE AS NIGHT FOLLOWS DAY. I LOVE YOU..................

A very touching poem Sharon - I am sure that time the great healer will help you to get over this unfortunate traumatic tryst with your Dad...10
