Udiah (witness to Yah)

(1959 / USA)

Death Of A Dolphin

A super nova in Dolphinus
Foretold of the coming plight
A fall hurricane unleashed
Toxins from toxic sights

Now the dolphins are dying
Their dead sounds the warning cry
Has some of the chrome leached to the waters?
Take notice: those who live nigh

Avoid for a time all swimming
And soak not too long in the tub
And even drinking the water
If it comes from downstream of the flub

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Maybe some toxic dumping sight has been opened up by last year's hurricane and is now spewing waste down stream into the Chesapeake or maybe even the Delaware, and then out to the Ocean shores. Remember toxins such as chromium salts can be inhaled, ingested, or even absorbed through the skin. And it can take up to 72 hours for skin absorption to show up in the form of a rash.

Very touching poem, so sad, this reminds me of a poem called 'Cry Of The Dolphin' about the fishing of these beautiful creatures. Yes very good poem. (Report) Reply

nice poem...it is really scary to think that because of pollution we humans might also face the same fate as the dolphins... (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Robert William Service

Three times I had the lust to kill,
To clutch a throat so young and fair,
And squeeze with all my might until
No breath of being lingered there.
Three times I drove the demon out,
