for the darkness,
i have dedicated hours, destroyed
the minute hand and
banished sense entirely.
reason fled
and so did sleep between
the sunless passage of
eternity into
endless dreams.
yet i remained
lucid; staring past
the grim mythos
fear had placed upon
the night. i saw instead
a black fire, hot ice. nothing
impossible
at the flickering edges
of candle-light.
