Defeated Poem by Rain Gill

Defeated

it eddies and swirls
drawing my gaze
into its tranquil depths
I fear it
as much as I long for it
as I envy it
it calls to me
and I long to respond
my body gravitates
towards the edge
of the bridge
but my mind refrains
it knows if I reach the edge
there will be no return
the water is inviting
as it ebbs and flows
its surface is calm
begging to be broken
disrupted
like me
my fingers grip
the rough cement
of the bridge
pale visage
the water is inviting
begging me to jump
eyes shut
lungs full
I oblige

Great piece! Can envision the whole poem playing out in the mind! Nicely done!
