Demon's Attack From Disguised Sleeping Dog Poem by Terence George Craddock

Demon's Attack From Disguised Sleeping Dog

teenage boy out
on the town walking
walking like a freedom spirit
out for the night

the lone wolf walked
the footpath in small town
West Coast New Zealand
on a hot Summer Friday night

passing houses
walking passing
a house with an old dog
on the porch sleeping

twenty-five yards
away suddenly transforms
into a demon black dog
instantly runs

gap twenty-five yards
distance from porch
to the lone wolf walking
timeless in a timeless moment

internal voice said 'don't look at
it look away' and the lone
wolf looked away and the demon
could not touch this lone

wolf because the lone wolf
looked away in faith perfect trust
despite flash flood fear piercing
with noble indifference knowing

dark angry raging lion demon
could no longer see lone wolf
only purity face creator figure God
and demon was by God hurled

away cast off

dark demon could not
claim him for wolf
was a lamb of God dressed
for wilderness the lone

wolf was destined
to be a voice crying
in the wildnerness
after decades following

for the lone wolf was destined
a voice crying in the wilderness

demon was within seconds
instantly back as the old dog
still sleepng on the porch demons
are like that protecting God looks

after his own
free spirit
boy wearing
lone wolf clothes

walking many years
destiny far ahead
still waiting to write
behold child you did

not receive
hell horror of
dark demons
attack vicious

you received
blessings
strengths
protections

for eternity
