Departed Poem by Shruti Goswami

Departed

Remember the little drops that we gathered as one?
How it pained us to see them, evaporate, slowly, under the sun?
Remember, the unspoken words, deafening all our senses?
How hard I struggled, to break the fences?
Of your defence.
Confused and ignorant,
Of all the beautiful moments,
That we spent, together;
Faraway.
Know then, why not, if I will come, or not come,
If I do, and when I do, shall it be in your arms?
Ask then, the questions, even if the numbers are some,
Wait, cannot be endless, it is cumbersome,
Not to mention torturing, tormenting and loathsome.
I hate waiting, always have,
What a cruel joke for me then my Love,
I am waiting, since time immemorial.
The colours have faded, the leaves of patience, jaded,
My bastion, you have mercilessly raided,
And still, no flag fluttering.
You conquered, and left behind,
The ashes of my hopes,
You looked back in surprise, and rode along the slopes,
Of my desire.
How long will it be, then, for you?
To look into my eyes,
Touch my soul, soothe me,
And never say goodbye?
