Departure Poem by Jean Renwick

Departure

As love spirals down into darkness
I am to be lost with it.
You accept my love, my soul, my dreams
And when you leave, this my life, leaves with you.
The empty space grows and aches.
I feel helpless, a phantom limb.

Now I hear someone has captured you
As you did me.
Another of my lost loves!
I am doubly betrayed – all I can do is forgive.
I could not love you completely,
Perhaps they will.
