Unintelligible Susurration

Deserted

Walking in
The deserted town
With owls hooting
Their farewell

I feel like
I am the only person
Left in this place

Houses crumbling
In abandoned fields
With wilted flowers
And stray, hungry cats

The world
Has stopped spinning
Time is frozen in place
Yet I walk on
Only looking forward

They've spared me
To save themselves
And not feel
What it is
To be in a desert

Poem of the Day

poet Robert Browning

After
by Robert Browning

Take the cloak from his face, and at first
Let the corpse do its worst!

How he lies in his rights of a man!
Death has done all death can.
