Despair

I am loosing control
I cannot seem to grasp my loss
Words unspoken cut through me
The memories numb my mind

This feeling of despair
Ponders my mind with every beat of my heart
Caged in my existance
It creeps in and takes pieces of my soul
And then am left with shreds of happiness

I cannot seem to escape it
I dream of a safe haven
Wake up in its harsh arms
It feeds on my longings
Leaving me to question my purpose

My bittersweet fix
Self mutilation, the cold metal
Cuts my flesh and I get blood high
The painful pleasure hiding my loneliness

The world gets colder as I seek refuge in warm heart
But am reminded that I do not belong
With no voice to hear my cries
Self ending my only solution
Pain has finally conquered my thoughts

Poem of the Day

poet Rupert Brooke

If I should die, think only this of me:
