I really want to be knowing
and so I just have to ask it:
Where in the heck am I going
and why am I in this handbasket?

If I remember correctly, I wrote the poem BECAUSE of the cartoon.

It took me a while, but I now recall the saying I heard YEARS ago about 'handbasket'; you did give a hint in the 'cartoon'. An example of the 'saying' I refer to: 'Kim, you are getting FAT and getting OLD and you are GOING TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET! ' : )
