Destiny Poem by Judy Roberts

Destiny

It wasn’t supposed to come to this.

We were only going to have some fun;

Entertain each other with lovemaking

And maybe a little conversation and music.

But somewhere in there while we were just passing the time

I found the love of my life;

He was all the boys I had dated in high school,

All the adolescent movie star and rock star crushes,

Packaged into the most wonderful man I’d ever known.

Ah, but life happens and we wander off the path,

And years pass and relationships are formed;

And relationships are never just about two people,

Unless those two are untouched by any other.

So we accept what we’ve been given or what we’ve taken,

And live our lives wondering “What if? ”

And we find ourselves in the wilderness where there’s darkness

But then through a break we see a glimmer of light

That guides us back to our destiny.
