Destroying Me Slowly Poem by Ginny Gibbs

Destroying Me Slowly

Rating: 4.5

You said you wanted something serious,
You were open, yet so mysterious.
And now you tell me you don't remember,
I hardly ever fit in your calendar.

Whenever we talk, you're all laughs and smiles,
I bet you never know that every night I cry.
To be yours is all I'll ever want,
Yet you sleep with more girls than I can count.

You tell me I'm special, but I don't see it.
If you like me so much then why don't you show it?
Everytime you scold me I just break down,
You're the only one I love in this town.

Friends with benefits, that's what you offered,
The way you won't let me close gets me concerned.
I want to take care of you like noone before did,
I wish to be someone you can share everything with.

You have my heart and you know it,
Yet you keep breaking it slowly.
If I offer you my innocence would you take it?
Or would it be the final reason for you to leave me?

You tell me you care about me,
Yet I feel like you're gonna destroy me.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A relationship fraught with unfaithfulness, deceit, and selfishness well depicted in the poem. Distress in bliss of love well portrayed. I like the articulation and penning of the poem. Thanks for sharing and do keep it up. Please read my poem THE PHOENIX STRANGLER.
