Dialogue Poem by Hamd Ejaz

Dialogue

Rating: 5.0

i sit in the empty corner of a dark room
even, the moon and its light shys well away from me
in this act of atrocity; i speak to myself
'nothing except dark in this room as it is in my mind'
staring at my hands through the void i say
'nothing except darkness in these LINES! '

soon, the emptiness in my hands is joined with tears
tears of meaningless emptiness and despair
but, strangely, my eyes are drawn towards a figure
it is as dark as the dark surrounding it
blending in it; as it moves towards me

it speaks with a deafening echo!
'you are tormented and your heart has bled
your soul is in despair!
darkness is your only lare'

my lips were not trembling because of fear
but, it was long since they had ever spoken!
'Why was i chosen to suffer? ' i replied
' to lose someone for you have so much strived'

'FATE', the answer came
i wished that there was another reason he could name!

'but what about the love i had given?
was it guilt?
or was my heart filled with filth? '
'HATE, is what is your heart', it replied

HATE? ? ?
the word had whipped me long before
yet, it was the only thing that i ever had!
hate was the only gift she gave me
and now, i have grasped it and would never let it free!

' I LOVE her, she HATES me; NOT FAIR!
she is happy; lively and loved
i am broken; downtrodden and forgotten; NOT FAIR!
she is rewarded for HATRED; i am punished for LOVE!
NOT FAIR; NOT FAIR! ', i argued!

'Indeed', it remarked
the creature seemed to see through my scars
'It's your soul that you have sacrificed
and soon enough you will know it's price'

i gasped in air as something touched my hand
'FEAR NOT', the voice came
' The night is darkest before the dawn'
and then it disappeared in the void from which it had appeared
a gust of wind blew through the room, as the creature flapped its wings!
it was as if my soul captivated somwhere
was released from its strings!

It seemed that afterall, through the darkness; there might be a DAWN
the sun appeared above the dark clouds as the DARKNESS had gone!
