Diana Of Ephesus And The Eggman Poem by Shannon Walker

Diana Of Ephesus And The Eggman

Mercury transits the sun,
The moon above the obelisk
In 2001, A Space Odyssey;
Are you seeing this?

Arecibo,
A humming oscilloscope,
The horizontal, the vertical,
The sine waves lapping at your feet,

Your green sweater, a missing screen:
It's looking right at you baby doll,
Cygnus X-1, the Swan in September,
After the collapse,

And the words
Of the Soviet Cosmonaut
As she fell
Back to Earth-

Terrifying.

Our reach should always exceed our grasp. Hopefully, the earth also moved. Heavenly.
