Didn't Have Time To Say Goodbye

'Didn't Have Time To Say Goodbye'
(c) 2007 Bob Atkinson

brushed her hair in the morning light
looked into the mirror
smiled at the way it was cut this time
Louise was a keeper

a party yesterday, a field trip today
to see the flowers in spring bloom
on a bright, sunny day

didn't have time to say goodbye
didn't have a reason to call and cry
didn't have time to say goodbye
just sat in the chair and didn't move

razor cleaned his face of stubble
left shoelace gave him some trouble
started the car as he'd always done
then something strange went through his mind

he wouldn't have time to say goodbye
didn't have a reason to call and cry
just sat in the seat and didn't move

didn't have time to say goodbye
didn't have a reason to call and cry
didn't have time to say goodbye
just sat in the seat and didn't move

so many loved their sweet ways
so many gifts they always gave
so many hugs sincerely tight
they didn't have time to day goodbye

didn't have time to say goodbye
didn't have a reason to call and cry
didn't have time to say goodbye
just sat there and didn't move
