Dilemma Poem by Obinna Kenechukwu Eruchie

Dilemma

If I let go of virtue, what becomes
of the promise ‘have it in your heart where
you are from’, these very words in large sums
from my father, have been my tool I fare
to do good, when value was of treasure
and activities were not like ACs
in low light that shake; now I’m in pressure
by a social ill that agonizes—
like ‘live a koboless life or marry
the woman I do not at all fancy’,
for to let go will give me a broad space
from stress, but the whip by conscience I’ll face.
