Disaster And Science-The Missing Link

DISASTER AND SCIENCE-THE MISSING LINK

what disasters teach:
nature - a double edged sword
exit can you reach
when fury strikes - else be gored
when sublime-relax, be floored

when struck, speed is key
as flood, fire.. in toto consume
luck leads to.wrong tree
with cool mind plan, don't presume
and.study spot's.resume'

good science can save lives
gives notice to plan escape
but intuition drives
satellite pictures on tape
clearly tell story's shape

planners ignore science
people live where angels dread
let words be not minced
leaders don't know how to lead
victims multiply with speed

A résumé is a short account, either spoken or written,
of something that has happened.Collins English Dictionary

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
we are losing too many lives, too much property, .. and mounting losses, because we are ignoring warning given by science on impending natural disasters-whether torrential rain, floods, earthquakes, forestfires, tsunamis... and so on, as we the educated class ignore science and the poor ignorant people simply don't know what is in store when they try to settle down in vulnerable places!

double edged sword-something that has or can have both favorable and unfavorable consequencesMerriam Webster Dictionary
eg: This much freedom of expression and opinion can be a double-edged sword. —Linda Connors
