Distance Poem by Mycho Jamil

Distance

I close my eyes
Hoping you're in front of me
Yet my heart's pierced with shards of ice
As I open them and see reality

They say it matters not
When lovers are far from each other
But their love's all they've got
And it struggles to not falter

To the depths, I sink down
As I think where could you be
Yet all I can do is frown
And get down on my knee

Between us is an interminable distance
It shouldn't hinder us right?
But I seem to lose my chance
For it is impossible for us to unite

But it doesn't end like this
We can still talk no matter how far we could be
Even if it could sometimes cease,
All that's important is that you can still talk to me

Our hearts got to hold on
And face every hindrance
We got to carry on
And find our only chance

There's nothing we should worry about
As long as we trust each other
We may still seem to doubt,
But we both know we love each other
