Distant Memory Poem by james chaplin

Distant Memory

Distant memorys
a golden feather floating on the wind
my fading heart beating within
gentle hands wrapped around my waist
i can feel her gentle embrass
distant memorys fading into darkness
when i looked back i knew you were heartless
i now think to myself, why did i do what i did?
all the drugs, the girls, the music
why did i look back?
i was happy as i was
the good old days
the fame slowly getting to my heart
why did i throw it all away?
was it the drugs or was it you?
i dont know but all you are now is a memory
slowly eating away at my soul
i will never forget your decaying smile
the way you looked at me
those big blue eyes
i was looking into oceans of deep blue seas
but now i am lost, wasted, another lost soul
the drugs, the girls and the fame
its all the same
it eats us alive from the inside
a distant memory fading into the past
nothing ever lasts
and we are not indestructable
and we never will be
god help us all
the distant memorys fading like me
