Distant Spaces Poem by Karan Patade

Distant Spaces

A father figure,
always had me looking up.
Oblivious to so many things,
only love filled my cup.

With a sudden turn of events,
I find myself alone,
and forced the apple of knowledge,
of things best left unknown.

When I learn of life and laws,
I suddenly see my flaws
and gaping cracks in the ground,
life has me looking down.

Always the odd one out,
but innocence kept me cozy.
Now I know what life is about,
the days don't go by so easy.

This world is a great place,
if you don't have a heart.
I loved you without holding back,
but you laughed at me from the start.

I want to rest my head,
but I see no one when I look around.
Looking up I think about my daddy,
the question, if he would understand me.

Hi Karan, Lovely piece. Made me think of my own father gone 15 years now and my own daughter now grown and not a little girl anymore. Keep posting your work and I'll watch for more. And yes, I believe he would understand. ~jrpr
