Diversion Poem by Tarbia Hamid

Diversion

He entered the playground,
Eyed the target,
Took his position
The pawns moved both ways,
His,
Three steps to the right
Hers,
Three steps to the left
They met
Eye to eye
Eyebrows cocked,
He questioned
She flared,
Stepped forward
He followed
She smirked-
Checkmate!
