Do Not Be Coy Poem by Alex waters

Do Not Be Coy

Rating: 5.0

Do not be coy
My patient lover.
We are not far from troy,
Nor from cover.

The past may not seem far,
But the future is much nearer.
Apollo has pulled the clouds ajar
And shown the way to steer.

But your king is lonely;
There will be war to wage.
My dear Helen, he will find me
And rewrite our final page.

My flesh will bleed;
The city will come to past.
My people will meet dyer need,
For our love to last.

But love will not be my guide.
I must redeem this all.
I will follow my sense of pride,
Which will lead me to my fall.

And so my dearest will cry
At the knees of the mighty,
Because I snuck about as a spy,
In the house of Aphrodite.
