Do Not Read This Poem! Poem by Austin Wheeler

Do Not Read This Poem!

Do not read this poem, it will only waste your time.
It won’t affect your life and it won’t help mine.
And just like cocaine, it’s a waste of good lines.
The only person to read this had nothing good to say,
But he was also a mime.
Do not keep reading this poem, I can’t change your mind.

Do not read this poem, because you’ll eventually be dead,
And you don’t need this nonsense polluting your head.
So stop reading, and instead go dream pretty dreams in your bed.
You will never get this instant back,
At least that’s what the mime said.
I warned you, you might as well be eating paint-based lead.

Why are you still reading this poem? You know it holds no truth.
Right now you could be searching for a fountain of youth.
Or shelling out your cash at an adult film booth.
Anything but reading these very words.
You must be intoxicated; rum or vermouth?
Just keep reading I guess, my commands have no use.

You must hate authority, that’s the ticket!
It’s in your nature to find The Man and stick it.
It’s in our DNA to find a creature and trick it.
That’s how I got you to read this poem,
Now, DON’T TAKE YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN AND LICK IT!

I did read this poem and others too. But I did not lick my screen. Your mind is unusual. Cal
