Do They Know? Poem by Colette Grosvenor

Do They Know?

Rating: 5.0

The bus is empty- no one catches this bus.
The driver gives me a sympathetic smile.
He knows, I know he does.
I sit in the middle,
(Only the cool people sit at the back)
I let my eyes gaze,
Beyond the droplets running down the glass.
The rain beats down,
Filling the holes in the road.
Lightning in the background tears through the sky,
And black clouds dominate above the world.
Yet everyday life carries on.
Children sleepily walk to school,
With sympathetic smiles on their faces.
They know, I know they do.
I stopped at the traffic lights,
Staring at divers in their big cars.
Sympathetic smile after another,
They all know, I know they do.

Today I'm running away.
