Dog Cage Poem by Kyle Blevins

Dog Cage

The land filled with wonder
That mysterious place
Scary like that storm filled with thunder
But why do i want to go there?

A world outside i know i belong in
Once i get there what will happen
I could fail or succeed
Even failure seems better than here

Im a dog nearly two feet tall
But this fence isnt so small
You might look in and it looks easy
I know its more difficult however

I get the feeling it was meant to keep me in
But i know theres a way out
I just need that extra step
Ive dreamed of a higher house, and ive wept

It feels like theres a way
I sit and look for someone to help
But i need not rely on others
I can do this, im a pure bred lab

Ill get out of this cage, believe me
Once im out ill be on cloud 9
And let me tell you what
Everything will be okay, just fine

Oh that glorious day
Out of this cage and on my way
Pure bliss, eternal freedom
Woof woof, ill show ya soon

That someone to help may come
Maybe not to open the gate
They might however, change my fate
Whatever happens, i cant sit here and wait
