Dogs Never Sleep Poem by Dorsey Baker

Dogs Never Sleep

The powerful arms
of intimidation play
leapfrog
with the missiles of anguish
and its huge backlog
of misery
Bigger targets
smaller goals easy work
difficult work in progress
The storm arises slowly
Give no warning
before the death toll
the winds are calmest
the air is warmest
the birds sing
beautiful songs
the dogs seem to be sleeping soundly
but everyone knows
that dogs never sleep!
