Don'T Ask Politicians Poem by Francis Duggan

Don'T Ask Politicians

Don''t ask Politicians about poverty they do not wish to know
They do quite well for themselves their nest eggs grow and grow
They command such huge salaries with huge perks on the side
And it is to their advantage to show their National pride.

Don''t ask Politicians about the environment of such they do not wish to hear
To the developers and big business they prefer to adhere
One must ask what they stand for their ideas seem so small
The answer seems quite simple not very much at all.

Don''t ask Politicians about honesty since from them you won''t get an honest reply
The very word ambiguity to their kind does apply
Even to the simplest question their answer won't be straight
To avoid answering honest questions honestly their own verbal smoke screen they create.

The honest Politicians to say the least are rare
And every Politician seems to be a millionaire
To them it does come natural to tell lie after lie
And even for to save face their half truths they deny.
