Don't Fade Into Grey Poem by Skylark Woodrow

Don't Fade Into Grey

I'm here to make a difference,
To bring about change,
Start a revolution,
Tell the truth about the lies they proclaim.
"You must do this...
You must be this way.....to be popular, accepted, cherished."
Why do we just follow along,
Why do we not question what they are telling us?
Our vibrant individuality is fading into grey,
Faces becoming indistinguishable from one another,
Movement synchronized into the same monotonous action.
Why are we afraid to be different,
Is it because of labels like weirdo?
Outcast?
Why are we so afraid to stand on our own and let the world know who we are and what we think and believe?
It's not meant to be like this;
Our differences make us stronger and enhance this experience we call life.
Without our individuality what do we become?
What does life become?
I implore you to stand up and stand out;
But if you won't, at least don't fade into grey.
