Don'T Give Up Poem by Donna McCord

Don'T Give Up

Have you ever wondered why you have to keep going?
What’s the point in being here, what good you are doing?
Would anyone care if you just gave up?
And just run in the path of that oncoming truck?

I have a theory, and I hope I can help.
You really have to start loving yourself.
It’s a simple thing, really, so please take notes.
Just heed my words and don’t give up hope.

There’s someone out there who looks up to you.
To them you’re the world and they watch what you do.
It may be a loved one, a friend or class mate
But whoever it is, you may seal their fate.

You are that someone that they look up to.
They may love you enough to imitate you.
You’d never intentionally hurt someone else.
So be mindful of how you are treating yourself.

Pain is inevitable, but misery’s an option.
And the pain you feel may be out of proportion.
But hold your head up and don’t alter your course
Live a full life without the remorse.
