Light in brilliant bands of yellow and white
Illumined, Eyes blind,
In pain, I open eyes wide.
In robes with a halo behind.
Who art you? And why have you come?
God am I, said the voice. "Almighty! "
But Almighty why do thee cry?
Tears roll down thine cheeks!
God why do thee cry?
Seven days I worked, the universe I stroked.
Man I created and was proud
The best of all. Oh! joy in me was abound.
Then came the fragile frame.
Soft, frail but strong at heart; she could endure all pain.
So many times she's stripped,
Hair dishevelled, eyes torn,
Crushed and screwed.
Four or forty, none is spared.
'Mom they tore me apart
I pleaded I cried, but
None heeded my lament, I was left aghast.
I cried, brother let me go to mother.
Then came uncle and grandfather.
I'm your doll
Your little baby doll
Why you tear me apart? '
They killed my daughter, my child
So I cry,
My world is now a mere sly
Saviours none stand by
So I cry, so I cry.
Soft, frail but strong at heart; she could endure all pain. So many times she's stripped, Hair dishevelled, eyes torn, Crushed and screwed. the plight of the women in India and elsewhere. even today there was a news coming from India that an 8 year old was raped by 5 men and then bruttally killed, . even the pölice and the lawyers are supporting the rapists. , , such a terrible situation... One of the best poems devoted to the present day scenario. Small girls are being sexually assaulted, brutalised and murdered with impunity in a country where Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh are the Presiding Deities and Durga and Kali are worshipped as the slayers of powerful monsters & demons. Thanks for this emotional take.
