Donna, The Light! Poem by Anashree Nash

Donna, The Light!

It is true that my Donnas Departure
From life was a tragedy
My heart will always
Bleed from that pain.

But my heart will also celebrate
The years my sweet Donna spent
Creating epic memories with
Every soul her soul has met.

I cannot paint all the days of her life
With sadness or pain
For that isnt true,
Not at all.

Like every person
Has their good days
And not so good days
My girl went through that too.

Donna was always an angel,
Polite, sweet, kind,
Well mannered, supportive
And the most loving soul.

My girl was a hearty person
Full of joy, laughter
She was the epiphany
Of happiness itself.

Most of the years of her life
Was of bliss but the day my girl
Glowed the most was when
She held her little girls in her arms.

Even the photos and videos of her
Have beautifully captured
The heart and nature
Of my sweet princess.

If i had to sit myself down
And think of the times
Donna was around
Her smile could light up my soul.

And it dawned upon me
That it is not that my girl
Couldn't come to me
To complain of the pain she endured.

She knows I am her rock
Just that she never complained
She was only testing
Her own sense of strength.

That's my Donna, a positive person
A candle in the dark
A person who never complained
And always looked at life positively.

Her babies were Donnas all
The last chapter of her life
Revolved around her babies
They were her only world!

So even through her pain
In her heart she believed
Tomorrow will be
A brighter day.

My girl wasnt afraid of life itself
My Donna was a brave girl
What was her fault
In seeing the good in a person?

It is tragic how my angel
Took her last breath
But prior to that
She used her every breath with grace.

If she could not believe that
Monsterous people really exist in life
What is my angels
Fault in that?

A woman is able to endure,
Overlook and adapt
In all the challenges of life and
We are taught to make things work.

We are considered the
Heart and the light of a home,
We are taught to make a home
And keep the family together.

When a woman has children
Her decisions and tolerance
Is moulded completely
Around her children.

Is that her weakness
To ensure her child has
A family that is complete
With a mum and dad.

That is the magnitude of strength
For in the eyes of a child
Their only safety in life
Is mum and dad.

Until endurance reached its limit
And she lay her cards on the table
She had the winning hand
But was insanely robbed of her life.

So how is this my girls fault?
How much is expected from a woman?
She did what she knew best to do
And may this be an eye opener to us all.

On this journey of attaining
Justice for my Donna
May her last breath
Be a rude awakening to us all...

One has to acknowledge that
The world does have ruthless souls
A person's behaviour should be
Analysed leaving no stone unturned.

Some people believe
They are the sun that rises in a day
Only to be a dark cloud
That takes away your light.

It is time we stop being soft hearted
Time we stopped overlooking
The wrongs of the ones we trust
With all our life.

It is time for zero tolerance
No accepting of "I AM SORRY"
And rise above the storm
After all you are a woman.

Trust yourself, believe in you
Know your worth, educate yourself
Always be independant
And be your own guiding angel.

Before we give love
It is vital one loves themselves first
That is the secret to have
The world at your feet.

I will live the rest of my life
Celebrating my Donnas life
Even in her death she is
An inspiration and still remains to be the light.
