Door Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Door

I kicked the door,
And wanted to more,
So I kicked it wide open.
It back against the wall.

Why I kicked it open,
I was not sure.
It seemed the natural,
Thing to do I'm sure.

I slammed the door shut,
The whole door took a fall.
I slammed it against itself,
It's frame tremoring against the wall.

Somehow five hundred doors opened to me,
I wondered how in the world that could be.
However, they beckoned me to come,
But after all I had done.

I couldn't.

So I shut all doors of opportunity,
That were placed before me.
