Dormant Chatter Poem by Tanec Rayl

Dormant Chatter

it's fine when you feel you help them
but when you must grit what remains of your teeth
and just do it for hours
leaving this unintentionally ambiguous
catching up with yourself over time
making about fifty percent sense
running out of storage space

this is why
when I cut myself in half with my choices
boarding the boat to rescue a puppy
applying a band-aid to my lobotomy

this is how
through no fault of my own
taking full responsibility for my unactions
giggling, I send you to lie with the cat
where you remain until dawn
vacant, wide-eyed, and motionless in the dark
