Dragons And Fairies Poem by Arta Krasniqi

Dragons And Fairies

He saw me
From afar
Then came
So close
I could almost
Feel the heat
Of his body
We looked
At each other
Then he came
Closer to my ear
And said:

Some days
You turn
My butterflies
Into tiny fairies
And other days
Into mad dragons!

If only
I could tell him
About mine!

Each stanza adds another layer to this poem, each one unique and exciting. The first is a dramatic scene of REAL LIFE; it has the tension of not knowing what to expect as you await the arrival of the guy but you want him to come! The second stanza is my favorite because he gives you a guileless (and very original) compliment in confessing the different effects your presence, your personality has on him. He is astonished by you! He doesn't say tired old things like You're beautiful which suggests you're a statue. Instead he recognizes there are depths inside you that deeply move him in a variety of ways. He has an insight into your soul and he doesn't say anything vain or boastful about himself. He may not realize this but he is granting you your FREEDOM to decide what's next. And at very least the last stanza shows you are on the same wavelength.
