Dream In The Waking Poem by Thomas Wicker

Dream In The Waking

Rating: 5.0

What becomes of a dream in the waking?
A gift given and retaken
all along were baking
though you may shield your eyes from the sun-
What seemed so real in it’s solace
Slowly is escaping
Cant stop the breaking
As my memories fade to grey-
A subconscious desire
A reawakened liar
Fueled by times fire
Deeply hidden in my id—
Is it me that I’m faking
For the others I have forsaken cut them down and retaken
yet still I keep on baking
Though my skin never meets the sun
You can only see the ego
For it goes where I go
my closet amigo
That covers up one’s flaws
While imperfections stay covered in nights disarray
A gift of the sandman one day I will repay
Yet again comes light to take him away
If I am lucid in my dreams which is real?
