Dream Reality Poem by April Janovich

Dream Reality

The devil is wearing red,
Chasing me everywhere
Trying to steal my unborn
Baby. I run around trying to
Find a place to hide. The devil
Lures me into a building that
Is all red and black inside.
I am so scared of her but
Decide not to show my fear.
I stand up to her and tell her
'Your not getting my baby'.
While running away I come
To a park. An eagle lands
On my shoulder and says
'I will protect you'.

Next thing I know I wake up
And realize it's just a dream.
Or was it? Later on I figure
Out that the woman I was living
With wanted my bundle of joy.
So, I did what my dream suggested
And ran away to people I trusted
Who would protect me. They saved
Me from the woman with red hair
and now she is in despair.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is about a dream I had some years ago. My roommate at the time is the devil in this poem. True story. In my reality the dream wasn't far off because my roommate was trying to make me think I was a bad mommy so I would give my baby to her and it didn't work.
