Dream Warrior Poem by Ron Pate

Dream Warrior

When I close my eyes and begin to dream into the night it seems; I drift away and travel back in time, to a place with disfigured faces haunt me, draining me and stealing my time.
A Dream Warrior rides into a storm brewing,  inside the innermost recesses of my mind. Riding hard, charging the darkest fears of my mind.
Tempered steel is the blade she yields, clearing a blood drenched field present in the darkness of my mind.  Her hand like iron allows me to cope and deal with the memories, that appear so real..
Armor plate guards the heart and courage guides her blade, an accomplished soldier, spoken of in the night.
Guarding my heart and coveting my thoughts throughout life's plight, is what she does and she's always in the right.
The sun slowly rises and I wake, what I think is a dream is not, but a Dream Warrior stands here beside me, not just during the night, but all the time........
