Dreaming Poem by Rachel Brewer

Dreaming

Dreaming wouldn’t be the same without you.
If you were not there, I would not sleep at all.
You are the reason I close my eyes.
And into slumber, I deeply fall.

I cannot see you when I am awake.
Because it hurts to much when I remember.
I think back to the day you went,
That cold, rainy December.

So in my dreams is where you will remain,
And in peace we will be together.
Nothing can push or take you away,
And we will live forever.

When you invade my mind I feel comfort.
And when I wake I momentarily fill with joy.
Remembering you, having you, even for a while,
Like a brand new toy.

Every night it’s something new,
Going out to dinner, or sitting to talk.
But never again in life will this happen,
Now that you can no longer walk.

So, dreaming wouldn’t be the same without you.
Which is why I always think of your face at night.
