Dreaming Up Poems Poem by Shaun Cronick

Dreaming Up Poems

Rating: 5.0

It's one of those days,
I'm stuck in limbo land.
Can't think of anything,
To casually do offhand.

Usually I'm pretty good,
With a plan to follow.
Seems my mojo has deserted,
Feeling empty and hollow.

Oh snap out of it man,
There's plenty to achieve.
Spare us that sob story,
Your heart upon your sleeve.

Get your act together,
Man up for pity's sake.
Simply take a cold shower,
To spare us your heartache! ...

Well that did work wonders,
Not feeling weak as a kitten.
My imagination now liberated,
Dreaming up poems to be written.

Hang in there Shaun...this happens to all of us I'm sure; particularly during this prolonged lockdown period. My German musician friend, who is incredibly talented, suffers badly from depressive episodes and rarely manages to compose anything. Now your imagination is liberated I look forward to reading your latest work. I'm sure it will be inspired! It's certainly 'a now I'm feeling much better (me included) bring it on! ! ! 'inspired five from me

Hi Shaun What you have written strikes so many chords! ! Those days that we sit looking at a blank screen, words partially forming in our heads but not really gelling together. No idea of a subject matter that will excite or interest us or others…the fear that maybe we will never write another piece again! You have perfectly encapsulated that emptiness we feel..Full mark my friend for such a great description and read..keep writing, stay safe Lodigiana x

Lodigiana thank you and you mention the word fear. For yes we all fear that word and what it means for our imagination and writing processes. I fear of looking though things, however small and trivial to others, instead of looking at them and seeing them for what they are or can be. Thankfully the myriad of things list is endless and one can simply pick and choose And being tired after a demanding day is my great unwanted Nemesis too. Thanks again and take care.Shaun.x.

There are times that we do not seem to be imaginative and creative. But if we put our acts together, we are ready to face the day and everything flows in order. A well thought out poem well crafted and conveyed. Liked the two closure lines. The spirit of a great and one of a kind Poet. Top Marks!
