Dressed Skeletons Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Dressed Skeletons

They came knocking
Dear

The skeletons were
Dressed
In elegant black
And shirts
And black
Butterfly

In that haze
I saw them come
And
Ask
Politely
As
Head waiters
Do
What
I
Wanted
‘A
Glass
Of
Water
Just
And
Only'
Nodded
The
Skeleton
And disappeared
Soon after
I
Saw
Come
Again
Bringing
A liquid
Aperitif
‘Thank you, '
Said I
‘how much? '
Turned and
Spoken
Not
The
Skeleton
And
Disappeared

For
The skeletons were
Dressed
In elegant black
And shirts
And black
Butterfly

And/for
They came knocking
Dear
