Drowning Poem by D.N. Rebb

Drowning

Squandered in unchartered surroundings
Dazed within this pathless basin
Haunted by the dread of drowning
From this nightmare a desire to be awakened

Nauseously constricted through fear
Desperate yearning to revitalize
A faltered circumstance to revere
While defying all reasonable advice

Persisting to rectify this circumstance
An overwhelming strangling sensation
Rational capacity not taking any chance
Saturate this delusional suffocation

Risk apprehension of such dreadful panic
An alarming phobia has already entrenched
Split second pulsation ever so frantic
What survival opportunity are we against?

All heavy burdens will eventually sink
Drench this asphyxiating perish
Mortality balanced in an eye's blink
A noble experience finish

While being devoured by this daunting wallow
Intimidating anxiety trembles privileged angst
As the humbling tranquility is swallowed
Drifting logged crypts will in time be boxed
