Drunken Daddy Poem by laurel fasching

Drunken Daddy

his car pulled up
in her room she went
with the ligth shut off
hoping he wouldn't come in
the door slowly opened
and her father stumbled in
as he sat next to her on the bed
the man she once called dad, this was not him
gher dad would tickle her
and at night tuck her in
this man slurred his words and smelt of smoke and alchohol
he touched her knee
she held back the tears
he said i love you peanut
she said it back
but faith is what she lacked
he got up and left
him touching her was her fear
so it didn't happent this time
bt the next it might
would she run or hid?
what if he hit her
would she tell or make up a lie?
her thoughts bounced off the walls and cluttered the floor
they paralized her as her pillow became drenched w/ her tears
she didn't know what to think of him anymore
