Early Morning Poem by Andrew Matthews

Early Morning

Early morning,
Fresh coffee fills your nostrils.
Cold water on your neck
Invigorating, wakes you up.

Turn on the TV
To catch the news.
Turn off the TV.
Nothing but depressing views.

Get ready
Go for a paper.
Back home for breakfast
Weetabix and toast and more coffee.

Thinking of the day ahead
Back to the shops
Forgot to buy milk and bread.

Thinking of the people on the way to work
Thinking of the people who've decided to shirk
They've got better things to do with their time
Like me who has decided to just make words ryyme.
