Ears Made Of Stone Poem by Chukwuma Adione

Ears Made Of Stone

My ears are made of stone
Co-habiting only with solid nomenclatures
Dwelling beyond the reach of the tongue of vipers
That roar like a governing lion
Aiming to victimize through display of supremacy and roaring noise
Mortality has a way of mocking men
Making the blind crippled and the weak dead
It starts with what they say, not the speed of sound
To what you choose to hear
Then it flows to the heart to make misery of it
Have you seen my ears lately
They are guarded by the mountains
Echoes are not allowed within its estate
For the lips of mortals can only offer death
But I am an offspring of forever
No fears, no worries, no misery
I can only hear what eternity says.
