'' Earth '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' Earth ''

Rating: 5.0

In that frontier called space,
We refuse to face,
The human just cannot survive
We know that's the case,
Yet the human race,
Pretends out there we can thrive.

The immune system dies,
Radiation then fries,
The body both inside and out,
It's not a surprise,
We are being fed lies,
As our future here is in doubt.

Then there's our mind,
It makes up mankind,
Remember our health is our wealth,
We were never designed,
Are we really that blind,
Outer space will destroy us by stealth.

Our muscles waste,
They can't be replaced,
Physically our bodies are destroyed,
That dream being chased,
Means we're acting in haste,
It's something we need to avoid.

The distances are vast,
They'd leave you aghast,
To travel takes thousands of years,
The technology we've amassed,
You'd have to lambaste,
We know it will all end in tears.

Let's say we succeed,
Who'll take the lead,
If we meet up with an alien commune,
Who will concede?
Will they make us bleed?
To their germs will we be immune?

Instead of out there,
Let's start to repair,
The planet where we came to berth,
Come together and share,
Show that we care,
For the home that we titled,

‘' Earth ‘'

There is a panic on among world leaders right now regarding the state of this planet which sustains us, sadly what they'll propose will be,too little too late.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Hi Bri, I completely agree with the content of this poem, how humankind are trying to find another option rather than understanding and repairing their misconduct. This is simply my understanding of the poem but I do believe that us as a race should learn to be appease all of our miseries before we jump to conclusions. On the whole, I thoroughly enjoyed this poem and shall add this one to my favourites! - Thanks for sharing - Psyked

Thanks for your comments Poppi, the powers that be know far more than they're telling us, you don't just suddenly stop making petrol and diesel cars for no reason other than the oil is nearing it's end and the pollution from them has caused and is still causing untold damage.

Poets know and write the truth! But no one listens, Just because it IS The truth! Great poem! So well and clearly expressed. Should be mandatory for all to read and understand and know the perils we face. Maybe there is still hope and we can avoid our self- destruction and that of our poor Mother Earth. Thank you for this wonderful work!
