East & West Love Poem by Bruce David

East & West Love

Tonight I see 'em dance
Up on the wall
The Wall of death and distress
The War was hot
Then it was cold, sooo cold!

Seven months ago, a boy, not old
Was shot and died beside this wall.
It has begun to fold
By hammer, chisel, desire, and prayer
Soon, I know, it won't be there
To cut, to kill, to separate
But first a hole and then a gate
With floods of dreams just pouring through
To find a life of freedom, new

A western man upon the wall
With arm out stretched,
'Come on! , ' he yells
And grabs the hand
Of a determined Eastern man
And pulls him up on top the wall
And they dance and do not fall.

about the incredible events
I heard and saw as the Berlin
Wall was being torn down before
my very eyes.

I was very sad to read recently that
most Berliners wish the wall was still
stand because they were economically
better off then.
