Effortless Poem by Atef Ayadi

Effortless



I am trying unsuccessfully
To light my cigarette.
The lighter does not fire;
It is out of gas.
Each click exhausts my effort;
Each try takes off the hope for light.
With each try,
I see my life
And my feeling
For Eileen going
Nowhere.
Is it really that bad?
