Elves In The Meadow Poem by Justin Hutchins

Elves In The Meadow

Rating: 5.0

A luscious green meadow,
The sun high above.
Hills forever rolling,
A soaring white dove.

Puffy wisps of clouds,
The sky a heavenly sea.
Gracious, nimble elves,
Running around in glee!

They jump and dance,
While singing merry songs.
Their silver hair flutters,
As time passes along.

The day fades into dusk,
Then dusk fades into night.
But the elves keep on dancing,
And light their fiery lights!

The stars look down upon them,
And wonder-wonder-wonder!
They think about it through the night,
Until they enter slumber.

Still the elves are dancing,
Dancing in the meadow!
The moon disappears,
And the sun begins to show!

They start flipping crazily,
And pull off amazing acrobatic stunts!
And finally they start to recede,
back to where they're from.

They disappear into the woods,
Leaving not a mark to find.
It's like they were never there,
With nothing left behind.

There is a luscious green meadow,
The sun high above.
Hills forever rolling,
And a soaring white dove.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien. I was reading a biography on him and it turns out he wrote poems when he was young.
